Russia recorded 10 633 new COVID-19 cases in 24 hours, according to yesterday’s update, bringing the total of COVID-19 cases in Russia to just above 134 000, BBC reports.
According to BBC Russia’s COVID-19 related deaths remain relatively low:
The increase brings Russia’s total number of coronavirus cases to 134,686, the seventh highest tally in the world.
But Russia’s mortality rate remains low relative to other countries, such as the US, Italy and Spain.
On Sunday, a further 58 coronavirus-related deaths were announced, bringing the total to 1,280 in Russia.
As a measure to curb spreading the virus, the European country has imposed a lockdown on its capital Moscow as its healthcare system struggles to cope with the sudden surge in cases.
